You don't need to spend the festive season in the gym to stay in shape. Add definition and raise your metabolic rate – the speed at which the body uses up calories – by exercising your lower half as you go about your morning routine: "Do standing squats while you brush your teeth, take the stairs two at a time, and sprint for the odd bus to give your overall fitness level a boost," says diet and fitness expert Laura Williams.
