You can have a younger body
Have you let things slip in the figure department? Don't give up…
After the age of 30, the average person gains 10lb of fat and loses 5lb of muscle mass with each decade – but it is possible to reverse the decline. Strength training, where you move the muscles dynamically against resistance (usually weights or body weight) is one of the best ways of retaining muscle mass. Your fitness routine could take the form of traditional weight training, though initially you’d need a gym instructor to show you how to lift weights correctly to avoid injury.
If that doesn't appeal, fitness trainer Laura Williams suggests there may be an alternative: "Try Pilates or circuit training – including press-ups and sit-ups – which use your body weight as a form of resistance. When strength training is complimented by a protein-rich diet, it not only builds muscle mass but also increases bone density, which will reduce your risk of osteoporosis in later life."
